Our Publishing Philosophy: Purposeful Storytelling
At Stone Ridge Press, we believe that books are catalysts for change and sources of immense joy. Our mission is to partner with authors whose work embodies our core values: the growth of kindness and knowledge, and the shared responsibility to create a better world. We are looking for more than just manuscripts; we are looking for voices that resonate, ideas that inspire, and narratives that have the power to enlighten and uplift.
Our dedicated team is committed to a collaborative and respectful partnership with our authors. We understand the courage and effort it takes to bring a book into the world, and we're here to support you in sharing your unique vision.
What We Look For in a Submission
While we are open to a wide array of voices and stories, our primary considerations are quality, originality, and alignment with our mission.
- Impactful Content: We seek manuscripts that have the potential to inspire thought, encourage empathy, share valuable knowledge, or bring genuine joy to readers.
- Quality of Craft: Your work should be well-written, carefully edited, and presented professionally. We value strong storytelling, clear exposition (for non-fiction), and a distinct authorial voice.
- Alignment with Values: Submissions should ideally reflect or support themes of kindness, knowledge-sharing, community, personal growth, or positive global impact.
- No Genre or Length Restrictions (Primarily): We do not impose strict limitations on genre or manuscript length. However, the work must be appropriate for our publishing program and demonstrate exceptional quality and purpose. If you're unsure, feel free to query.
- Original, Unpublished Work: For standard submissions, we consider original works that have not been previously published (including self-published in print or widely distributed ebook formats). For collaborations with existing self-published authors, please see the note below.
Our Unique Impact Program: Giving Back Together
A core tenet of Stone Ridge Press is our commitment to tangible positive impact. We are proud to offer a unique charitable donation program where a portion of the proceeds from every print copy sold goes to a worthy cause. Authors actively participate by choosing a tier upon contracting their work with us:
Gold Program
$1.00 (one dollar) per print copy sold is donated to a selected charity or non-profit organization.
Silver Program
$0.10 (ten cents) per print copy sold is donated.
Bronze Program
$0.01 (one cent) per print copy sold is donated.
The choice of program is a collaborative decision, reflecting the author's vision and the nature of the work. This program allows our authors and readers to directly contribute to making the world a better place, one book at a time.
