Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our publishing process, mission, and partnerships.

How much are author royalties?

50 percent after printing cost.

Who pays for the charitable donation?

Donations are considered a cost. Since author royalties are 50 percent, the cost is borne half and half by the author and the publisher.

Do you claim a tax deduction for the donations?

Of course. We don't see why we shouldn't.

Why do you publicize your donations?

Kindness is contagious, that is the reason you are here.

Why don't you donate all the profits?

Moderation is the key. We humans are black and white and that is why kindness is scarce.

Why are donations tied to sales?

Because we pay it as a portion of sales. It also gives our audience a chance to contribute and share the cause.

I can't afford $1 per sale. What should I do?

The amount does not matter, start small. That is why we recently added the Silver and Bronze tiers.

How can self-published authors participate?

Send us your work for review. If it passes, we provide an ISBN, cover design, and formatting services. You can still use self-publishing platforms with our brand.

Can I work for Stone Ridge Press?

We are not here for wage and profits, but to do what we truly enjoy. If that is you, we don't see why you can't.

Do you accept AI-generated content?

We value human care and attention, and that plays a factor in our quality assessment, but we don't exclude AI-generated work.

Who chooses the charity?

The author, as long as it is aligned with our values.

Why should I publish with you?

Our brand and our audience community.

Why do you announce the name of the charity?

It brings transparency and can be fact-checked. It also makes the cause tangible and real to all who contribute, including our audience.
